The PSS Flange & Bladder System is available in acetal, aluminum, steel or stainless steel.
PSS Seal manufactures an array of flanges, in many material options, built to accommodate individual installations / applications. The PSS flange system can be used in conjunction with the PSS Shaft Seal or built to suit existing installations using alternative sealing solutions. The flange systems can be ordered as a "standard" (flange and shaft log), as an "inflatable bladder unit" (Flange, shaft log and inflatable bladder) or as a "bladder-insert" to retrofit an existing flange while incorporating the PSS bladder system. The inflatable bladder option executes sealing of the shaft log, while the shaft is not rotating, in order to inspect, clean, or do work forward of the seal. In addition, if the decoupling of the shaft is needed, this operation can be completed in the water as the shaft can be moved aft with the bladder inflated and no water intrusion occurring. This inflatable bladder can also be used to seal the stern tube in case of a seal emergency and is a requirement in order to meet many vessel class certifications.
Aluminum is easily corroded. PSS Seal does not apply any treatment to the aluminum unless requested by the customer. Due to PSS Seal's close proximity to the Boeing Factory, PSS Seal can supply any kind of aluminum treatment requested by the customer. Please specify which aluminum treatment you require for a quote.

When the rubber bladder is deflated it allows water to flow through.
Once the bladder is inflated it prevents the water from entering into the PSS seal.
All PSS mechanical seals have these certifications.
